Choosing The Right Photographer
I get asked all the time, how much do you charge? I know cost is always a factor when choosing your photographer but at the end of the day, cheap is not always good and expensive isn't much of an indicator either...
I think the most important thing is how your photographer comes across when you first meet them. I am very open, super friendly and passionate about what I do, I really love my job and wouldn't change it for the world. I don't price myself at a super high end but I'm also not going to shoot for free. This is my livelihood, my gear cost money, my time, my gas - it all costs something.
I do however trade my time, for good and services - I believe in trade, it makes sense - both parties benefit.
Some great food for thought when choosing a photographer:
It isn’t really possible to compare photographers by their web site and a price list. Anything with photos in it can be called an album, and enough images can be put together to look suitably impressive on a website. In order to understand how photographers differ and to understand why one costs more than another, you are best off seeing them personally and asking everything that you can think of.
You only get to choose a photographer once…
The most important things to consider when looking for a photographer are:
1. Do you love the photography?
2. Is the photography consistently great in all conditions and locations?
3. Do you want this photographer with you during one of the most important days of your life?
4. Will the photographer work with me to get what I want?
None of these questions can be answered without spending time discussing everything in detail.
